Mama is a very sweet pit bull mix rescued while pregnant, who gave birth to 11 beautiful puppies in October of 2007. Weighing in at about 40 lbs., Mama is fawn in color with a white chest, and her beautiful eyes match her coat. Her ears can stick out like airplane wings or stand on point when she lying on her side. This can be very endearing. She is quite muscular and is fast on her feet.

She presently lives with Mocha, a simple-minded English mastiff, and Kato, a tough street cat. Mama keeps the cat on her toes, but sleeps with both the cat and dog, usually nuzzled between them.

She loves to run outside, and plays well with other dogs. She has little patience for a leash, but is begrudgingly learning to heel. While off leash, she can be very adventurous, though eventually returns when called.

Traveling by car endlessly fascinates her. She eagerly jumps into the car at any opportunity, hoping for a road trip. She will sit up in the seat and enjoy the scenery. Sometimes, her enthusiasm overtakes her and she forgets to stay in the back seat. A quick reprimand gets her back on track.

In fact, Mama probably lived with a screamer at some point. She cowers a bit when one's voice is raised and is quick to react. She can be very skittish at times, particularly when approaching a doorway. For some reason, Mama fears going through doorways, especially when one is waiting for her to come through.

Mama can be a bit of a whiner when she thinks you are not doing your job. This typically happens when she wants to be fed, let outside, or not to be left inside.

Like most dogs, Mama loves to chew. A good rawhide supply works pretty well. In the absence of chewy toys, she goes for shoes. Getting angry with her makes her cower, but does little to deter her from taking on another pair later. Shoes are best kept away from Mama.

Mama would make a great pet for a responsible owner with plenty of outdoor space.
