G-Man was Adopted!

Updated G-Man Photos in his new home!

Note from new Mom 11/2007

He has turned into an awesome and georgeous HUGE fellow and absolutely everyone who meets him falls under his spell! He just had his one year check-up and Bill found him to be in perfect condition. He had all his shots updated and I also had a Home Again chip installed. The boy is now 80 pounds of golden muscle and joy!

He is the funniest dog on earth. One of his favorite passtimes is to go out into the east feedlot and just sit down. While he sits there looking at the cattle, he waits....... .....for them to come up to him and nose him and lick him! It's a hoot to watch! I think he thinks he is a small cow! (He IS a small cow, come to think of it!!!! John just said the other day, Hum, I'd like to see Tera carry him over her shoulder now!" he really did say that!! LOL!!)

I think we're finally through most of the chewing issues....1 pair of Clarks, 2 couch pillows, 1 David Morrow shoe, 2 lounge chair pillows, a wool Navajo rug, and 4 "big dog" KONGS later!!
He loves to run and play "stick" with John. They go out for a romp at least once a day and they are so funny to watch. It's not really a game of "fetch"....just ''stick". Winston will select and bring a stick...sometimes 4 feet long, other times a "normal length" stick, to John and he will throw it as far as he can and they're "off" running to get it and see who can get to it first. Then they go through the same routine over again.

In the summer, they played stick in the water, in the small pond near the house. Winston loves the water and John finally had to limit the water sport to three big throws. Winston would absolutely "Bound" into the water and swim and wait till their stick was thrown way out into the middle and then he'd swim as fast as he could to get it and gulp water in the process of swimming back to shore with the stick. He'd get so proud of himself and simply dance for John to throw it again! On the nights they did all that, believe me, sleep came early to the pup!

One of Winston's other favorite games (one I really don't encourage but realize it comes from his heritage and genetic makeup) is to run to the "Mountain Dew Rope" we have down by the pond. He runs full tilt and jumps at the last minute catching the first knot in his jaws and swings out over the water....just like my boys used to. Now, mind you this 2" scisal rope is secured up on 25 foot telephone poles on a cross bar. It has two huge knots about 4 feet and 5 feet up the rope and then a "tassle" on the bottom. He will do that over and over and then decides it would be fun to "fight" with the tassel. He gets it swinging and grabs it, growling and gripping at the fringe. Sometimes he will even swing out on the fringe as well...more than once he landed in the pond when the scisal slipped through his grip. It's funny to watch but it's not an activity I encourage him to do. Sometimes a fella just has to tug on something, I guess.

I was gone to GA, teaching for a while this summer and "my two guys" changed some house rules while I was away. Hummmmmmmmmmmm. I came home to find they had decided the crate was no longer a necessary sleeping port for Winston. (Even before I left he had destroyed the wire gate on the crate several times.) He really lovesbeing with people so much, and did NOT like being crated when we'd leave. We nicknamed him "Houdini" because that big lug could escape the crate no matter how many steel clips we put on the gate! (we had 8 on there and he could still squeeze out or rip the solder joints to the point he could escape.)

John decided to try him just leaving the door open ... and he'd go in the crate at night and sleep there on his pillow... Eventually, John just stored the crate away...in leiu of Winston's "new" sleeping arrangement. .....on the livingroom floor on a Huge 4x4 foot pillow. He often has a bedfellow when he sleeps as one of the cats absolutely adores him and she can often be found snuggling him...with a big paw on her. Quite a sight!

Winston loves to go to the studio with me and has another favorite cat out there. He and "Fang" are my studio companions and are absolutely hilarious together. Fang is a solid black "farm cat" who has quite an unusual personality. ..and two very long canine teeth...thus the name. Fang's two favorite places are in the back of me on my workbench chair or wrestling with Winston on their 4x4 pillow in the studio. They "wash" each others' ears and feet, chew on each other in play and wrestle sometimes to the point I have to shoo them outside. They share food and water together and are generally best pals. Fang by the way, is not a social being in any other circumstance. They are good for each other and fabulous entertainment for me!

Winston loves to ride with me in my truck and any time he sees me go out where I park it, he's right there ready to jump in. He gets the most pitiful expression in those gold eyes if he doesn't get to go along with me. He sits up in the front seat and takes it all in as we travel. I love to see the looks he gets from people passing by.

The little town we affiliate with near here decided (or one council member decided) they needed to think about establishing a BSL law ....I was asked to write an article about "my experience" with the bully breeds. (This was while I was in GA, by the way) . Well I did...and a pretty good article, I think. It was published in the local paper and in the following weeks, the paper received and printed four more letters...ALL in agreement with me (one was a full newspaper page in length) Most of them reiterated the basic points I had made in the initial letter...... .....training. ...owner responsibility, etc. I thought it an intersesting point that no one wrote supporting such a law.

We have not heard anything else from the city council about a BSL law. (for once, good judgement prevailed!) I did save all the articles and planned to send them on to you all...just haven't done it yet.

The pup still would love to be a lap dog and in the evenings, he will come and nestle as close as he can get to me and push his fanny up on my feet & legs so he's "sort of " sitting on me. If I sit on the floor with him or lay down beside him, he gets so excited, it generally ends up in a wrestling match rather than a restful repose!

Well, Miss Tera, that about sums up what's going on with our boy. He's a delight and we are quite happy to have the big boy here with us. Have you taken any others in to foster? How is the orgainzation doing? I always tell people where they can get good dogs and wish I could do more to help.

Know that Winston is well loved and well cared for and that he is certainly at home in the family here in NE MO.

Nicknames:
Gi, Ginger, little man

Interests:
G-Man loves to wrestle w/ his foster brother and is always wanting to chew on whatever his foster brother is chewing on at that moment.

Pet Peeves:
Being left a lone and above all else, His Kennel

My ideal day:
After waking up in bed, after a night of snuggling with my forever family, a nice wrestling match with whoever is up for it, preferably another loving pup. Then a trip outside. Then its a toss up between more wrestling or a nice bone to chew on. Then later in the day a nice car ride, where I will fall asleep, snoring and all, about 2 min into the ride. Maybe to wake up to a trip to the store or the park. End the day with more wrestling/playing with family and snugging in touching someone for the night.

My Story:

G-Man's previous owners thought they wanted one of G-Man's dad's puppies. When bsl was voted into the community they decided they could not keep both dogs. So After attempting to give him a way, with the only interst being the party house of youngsters down the street, they were contemplating just putting the puppy out. Thats when G-Man's foster family got involved.

This beautiful puppy is very loving. He loooves to cuddle and play with his foster brother. G-Man has a very strong personailty and with the right owner and good socialization will make someone a very good addition to their family. He gets a long well with his foster brother who is another bully breed. He is good with kids and with cats. G-Man is a quick learner. Is working on potty training and laying down. He learned quickly how to sit and is very eager for a treat.
