It was a very wintery night! lots of wet heavy snow. Very soon a very startling image appeared on the front porch of the house. Realizing OMG, it was a dog that had made its way up and onto a chair, shivering and covered with mud and visable signs of lacerations, punctures to the forearms and face. There was so much to look at I didn't really at that time, even know where to start in a comforting, or stablizing the situation.

Shocking as it all was, words can hardly describe my feelings! The poor dog was hanging on to life in a manner I do not believe I have ever witnessed in any animal or person. That all aside there was plenty of blood to go along with his pain. I don"t want to make this event sound any worse than it was but anyone who is going to read this, would most certainly be moved. Taking into consideration all the signs..action was a must.

Carried the dog to the restroom of the house, filled the tub somewhat and eased the dog into the water, the dog to my suprise was very much in control of himself and cooperating very well in letting me wash him up to get a clearer look at his wounds. That being accomplished in a rather quick order, we got some sterile bandages and salve and began covering the wounds as good as possible.

It was rather late in the evening when I come to realize I really didn't know what to do next. Just took him into the home as part of the family and said he looks very undernourished..better said like skin and bones! The dog looked so worn out I really did not believe he was going to make it through the night. But as fate might have it, the dog seemed to be staying very alert! But lacking somewhat in physical response.

Two days after the dog came about we were able to get him into the vets office for closer testing and treatment..what a relief! I finally was able to get him into see someone who would really know how to treat and advise me on follow up procedures to continue his healing process. My lord! I was watching this dog every day now for over a month really start coming alive again as if none of the wounds were going to keep him from being the beautiful and quite intellegent dog that he probably always was.

He is as of now a really colorful ball of joy and playfulness, attentive and thoughtful, that is easy for anyone to notice. He truly is a very friendly and loving dog, I could go on and on..so I went right ahead and had him given all his shots, neutered, checked for heart worms, had a chip implanted and he passed a temperment test with a very good rating..the dog would make a very kind and friendly companion or very good friend for just about anyone, in my honest opinion.

I believe he was discarded and left to die! how sad and bad is that? The image that will always remain with me is the collar the dog had on..the collar was attached by a partial piece of steel cable that the vet said the dog chewed the cable in half to free itself from where it was bound for its death, that I do believe! Hopefully he can have a caring home by someone soon...Thank you for hearing my story as best as I could tell it.

A few things I must ad to all of this, as the healing of the physical and untold other abuses which I can only imagine when looking him in the eyes, is he seems so well as a house pet, really laid back, loves to sit on the couch when I'm reading and wonder what it is exactly..that is taking up my attention. When on the floor he will roll on his back and soak up any rubbing of hisbelly: really enjoys that quite alot! He loves to sit in the back seat of my SUV and go for rides laying his jaw on the window ledge and enjoying the sites. Seems rather everything that he is observing on his rides is a new experience.

But one thing for sure is he has quite a distinct look about him from my view as a rather noble one.The personality of him is so cool that has popped up once again: he sometimes will act as a little kid wanting to play! When I go out to take him for walks he is so excited that he will walk along side of you as long as you will walk! and trot along if you would rather trot! I'm once again taken back by his physique and the silky feeling and look of his coat.

When one of us arrive home, and the one that is with him watches his reaction.. his tail will start wagging back and forth with great excitement..very cute to watch such behavior. He gets so thrilled at attention he recieves from anyone that I have noticed to this day that it makes for pleasant visit with him. During his healing process I always wondered if he would be somewhat of an energetic dog, and I have I been surprised..he is something from a storybook! One of his main actions is to crawl up on his comforter..which he really has come adapt to for a comfort place to always go to and relax! what a sight!

Be certain when you have been away and once again reunite he will want to stand on his hind legs and would welcome a hug..his front paws will for sure be at your waistline for that embrace...positive of that! He just wants to be loved by all! it is a heart warming experience for you and the pet...guaranteed 100% satisfaction...I have witnessed on a daily basis.

Thanks to anyone and everyone that has taken from their time to read my story. I pray everyday he will find a true and warm loving relationship with someone that would cherish the same.
